Aniketa

Anand Aniketa Roeber passed away in Malvern Wells, England at the age of 84, just a few days before his 40th sannyas birthday. When he found out he was in his last chapter he got so excited. He said, “Oh boy, if what I believe is true that’s going to happen, then it’s going to be even better! On to the next adventure! And if not, well it’s been a grand life. I’ve been so supported and loved.”

Tao writes, “So yesterday he climbed onto his magic carpet to his next fabulous adventure. In the 46 years that he has been a close beloved friend, I have never known him to be so alive as these last short couple of months. What a good friend he was to all who knew him. You’re one in a million, Aniketa, and I love you.”

Many might remember him when he worked in the mala shop and was the shoemaker in Poona 1.

His memorial service will be on Thursday, 18th February 1:00 pm at Worcester Crematorium, Astwood Cemetery, Tintern Avenue, Worcester, WR3 8HA. For anyone planning on attending please email lucyroeber (at) me.com so she has an idea of numbers.

Tributes

You can leave here a message / tribute / anecdote using our contact form (pls add ‘Aniketa’ in the subject field)…

My beloved friend and ‘brother’ who was there when I took sannyas 32 years ago and shared his friendship with me for all these years, I will miss you. Aniketa was such a blessed and constant presence in my life, sharing his intellectual acuity, humor, spiritual insights, and so much love despite the miles between us…. A gift to me and all his friends. A brilliant light in our world.
Prem Manohara

Aniketa, fond memories of your friendship in Poona one, your illicit daiquiris; and the praying mantis incident. Bon voyage.
