Nature, Science & Tech — 13 December 2016

A supermoon will appear in the night’s sky (December 13 into December 14, 2016). In case you cannot see it, here’s one that was captured on video last year in Australia.

The moon is set to reach peak fullness at 12.05am GMT in the UK (7.05pm EST in the US) on Tuesday night.

Photographer Luke Taylor filmed these striking images of the Full Moon in Aquarius on July 31, 2015.

He said, “It was a beautiful sight to witness and lucky for me to capture in a time lapse. This video is made up of 1038 frames and slowed down as close to real time as I could make it.”

His location was 4.3 kilometers away from Cape Byron Lighthouse, on Belongil Beach, Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia. The head land and lighthouse at Byron Bay is the most easterly point of the Australian Mainland and therefore is the first place in Australia to watch the full moon rise.
