Chakras… I have been painting chakras for over 30 years…

My paintings of the chakras and the subtle energy channels are mirrors that invite the onlooker to become more aware of the subtler aspects of themselves. As with most sacred art, they empower our inner exploration.

Osho has talked quite a bit about the subtle energy centers, especially in his older Hindi discourses. He explained that the seven centers are the rainbow which represents the seven planes of being. Together, they are the bridge, the ladder that joins earth to heaven. I often paint them in that context, following the rainbow color scheme.

I conceive the chakras as gates to different states of consciousness. A deeper understanding of the chakras can be very useful during our unfoldment. They have been the guide map on my own spiritual path.

However, I would like to remind the onlooker that all chakra systems and chakra illustrations are just that: maps or parts thereof. A map is not the reality. We have to explore our inner subtle energy bodies in their uniqueness by ourselves.

I always felt that to create paintings, dealing with the unfoldment and flowering of my potential and the mystery of life, I had to become a mystic myself. The deepening of my meditation goes hand in hand with my artwork; as my own exploration deepens, new expressions of the chakras arise in my paintings.

So here on show in the Osho News Gallery is a selection of my artworks on the chakras. May I invite you to have a look at these paintings, and even more so, to investigate the depths of the artwork that is you.
