Welcoming the new year in freezing Delhi winter

Events

Big beats of pulsating music, crackling bonfire with leaping flames and unlimited zest and zing of Osho lovers made greeting 2018 a landmark event, reports Kul Bhushan.

“One of the best parties I ever attended,” gushed Rohan Kaushik, “I feel blessed to be among such good, divine people that night. Many places have new year parties but the best party was the one with Osho friends. Feels good when you know that nobody is judging you.

Everyone is enjoying and being what they really are, no fake, no formality, just free, blissful souls all around. Natural, free and full of joy!”

Yes, the new year’s party at Oshodham, in suburban New Delhi, was indeed unique. Held during a cold winter night, with disco lights, a high-powered sound system on a red brick dance floor, it had a crackling bonfire with leaping flames for the dancers.

And dance they did until midnight when they greeted 2018 with raised arms to invoke Osho’s blessings and pause for steaming hot tea and spicy hot snacks. Again, they carried on until after 2 am to the pulsating beats of Sufi, Bhangra, Bollywood and pop music played by Swami Amit Saraswati.

”We all waited eagerly to celebrate new year’s eve in Oshodham,” said Ma Dev Pragya. “From setting up stage to pack up stage, we were joyfully dancing and living moment to moment. With every beat of the music, our energies were rising and melting in love. Words are to small to express our feelings. Shared dance of Bliss. Drinking from the wine of Osho. We were flying high in his Love. Drunk with the divine… Filled with celebration!”

Ma Anand Sujati quoted Osho who says, “Celebration is my religion, love is my message, silence is my truth.” She went on, “This beautiful evening made each one of us mesmerised, bringing back all the memories of our journey with Osho which made our lives beautiful and full of bliss. New year brings new hope, a new zeal has arisen and hopeful of new ventures.

“Bidding farewell to 2017 and to all the memories gathered throughout the year and welcoming 2018 in a meditative and celebrating state, dancing along with meditation on awe-inspiring beats with all my fellow sannyasins at Oshodham made me breathtakingly happy and inspired me to do much better in the coming year. Each one of us enjoyed with totality, presenting our souls completely in the presence of Osho, making the evening astonishing, blissful and delightful,” she said.

“Beautiful people gathered to celebrate new year’s eve at Oshodham,” recalled Swami Antar Shubham. “We went crazy and danced with our open hearts in beautiful moonlight. Thanks Osho, for all the love and blessings you showered on us on that night. Special thanks for our DJ Amit for playing such a beautiful collection of songs. Love for such a beautiful experience.”

“My experience was very beautiful,” said Swami Sufi. “So was everyone else’s! Everything was a beautiful meditation: the decoration and our teamwork. Everyone was celebrating every moment. There was a divine essence all around in that dance party and I enjoyed to my full extent.”

Swami Amrit Alok experienced great peace, joy and found himself in those meditations. “The new year party took us on another level of meditation. I took my friend, Sunny Chhikara, with me and we enjoyed it a lot; he is now more eager to visit again. It was fun,” he added.

“My experience was fantastic,” enthused Ma Bodhi Pratiti, “I enjoyed it a lot. I was very excited about this event and my wait was rewarded by an awesome event, and a great experience.”

Everyone looks forward to more such parties at Oshodham to celebrate Osho’s love for life and laughter, in fact plenty of celebrations are coming up this year, starting with Holi.

When someone was talking about a new year’s resolution, I was reminded of a question Osho was asked,

“If one were to make only one new year’s resolution, what would you suggest?”

Osho replied,

“This and only this can be the new year’s resolution: I resolve never to make any resolutions because all resolutions are restrictions for the future. All resolutions are imprisonments. You decide today for tomorrow? You have destroyed tomorrow. Allow the tomorrow to have its own being. Let it come in its own way! Let it bring its own gifts.

“Resolution means you will allow only this and you will not allow that. Resolution means you would like the sun to rise in the west and not in the east. If it rises in the east, you will not open your windows; you will keep your windows open to the west.

“What is resolution? Resolution is struggle. Resolution is ego. Resolution is saying, ‘I cannot live spontaneously.’ And if you cannot live spontaneously, you don’t live at all – you only pretend.

“So, let only one resolution be there: I will never make any resolutions. Drop all resolutions! Let life be a natural spontaneity. The only golden rule is that there are no golden rules.”
