A series of artwork narrating stories of a seeker’s life on the canvas, revealing eternal truth embedded within the realms of spiritual and mystical tradition and the science of meditation, will be exhibited at Lalit Kala Akademi from March 18 to March 24. Titled ‘Mystical Moments’, it has been composed by national award winning artist Pratiksha Apurv.

‘Mystical Moments’ will explore a vast range of subjects with lyrical expression. For instance, the creation titled ‘Beyond Senses’, which is oil on canvas, touches the interesting aspect of the five senses. This painting is an attempt to convey that during the journey one must not ignore the inner world that exists beyond senses. “We do not need to destroy the senses but create a balance by re-directing them to the inner world that would take oneself beyond the senses. The silence and stillness blended in the colours on canvas evokes a sense of mystical moments, here and now,” she says.

The paintings were first showcased at the Rashtrapati Bhawan Museum in July 2016. The series also has paintings on seven energy centres, the devotion and love of Meera, wisdom and compassion of Buddha, the truthfulness of Nanak and divinity of Kabir and Krishna.

She is also sharing the vision and message of Sufi mystics, Yoga guru Patanjali and concept of Shunya (void) which in general terms is described as that which cannot be conceived. “It can also be called emptiness, which has no shape,” Apurv says.

‘Mystical Moments’ also has a message from women mystics, who have struggled to find mention in modern history. “Since in our society, women sages have seldom [been able] to find their place, I decided to paint the blissful being and vision of mystic Rabia, Mallibai, Dayabai, Sahjo and many others, who are just like a pure reservoir of love and divinity,” Apurv says.

“The colours are drowned in existence and appear on the canvas with subjects like awareness, timelessness, living in moment, devotion, transcending energy and light, healing through colours. These paintings are an alphabet of love and I just want to share them with people and spread it all over like the fragrance of meditation in the winds,” she further says.
