Ageh Bharti writes about two recent observations related to Osho and the city of Jabalpur.
This painting of Osho affixed on a large metal frame was erected by the Government as part of their Smart City Project. The location is on Naudra Bridge Square in the middle of the Jabalpur city.
Note the coincidence of an advertisement on the lower balcony to the right of Osho’s image.
Osho, remembering an incident at this bridge when he was a student, speaks about it in discourse years later (You see the misery, but you don’t see the cause).
This clipping is from the Hindi newspaper, Dainik Bhaskar, the most circulated newspaper in India, dated December 4, 2018.
It is reported that High Education Board Director Dr Jagdish Chandra Jatiya made a surprise inspection of the Mahakaushal Arts and Commerce Autonomous Lead College in Jabalpur and gave several instructions to the Principal. One of the instructions was to create an Osho Room at the college.
This is the oldest College of the city, established in 1836; it was named Robertson College when Osho was a student. It was the most prestigious College in the province. Rani Durgavati University was established in 1956. Nowadays the College is affiliated to the University.
I remember that a few years ago, the City Collector visited the same college and suggested to the Principal to make a documentary film about Osho and that he would be available for any help if needed. However, this has not yet materialized.
