An ADHD parents’ support group asks the BBC why ADHD is often seen as negative. Published on BBC Stories on March 20, 2019.
Inattentiveness, hyperactivity and impulsiveness – these are just some of the symptoms of ADHD or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. By some estimates, it is one of the most common behavioural disorders in the UK [and in the USA]. But instead of us here at the BBC deciding what questions to ask about ADHD, we wanted to give that job to people who know ADHD much better than us – an ADHD parents’ support group in Medway, Kent, UK. The group came up with four questions and BBC Stories made a film to try to find answers for them. Also featured are 11 year-old Marcus and 45 year-old Jannine who speak to each other about living with ADHD.
Why does society generally only look at the negative side to ADHD and its financial cost to society? Why doesn’t it look at the positives?
