This month’s solar transits discussed by Marga.
In Human Design, as in astrology, the Sun moves from sign to sign over the course of the year, but the 360 degrees of the Zodiac are not just divided into the 12 signs, but into 64 further sections, called Gates, which are inspired by the 64 hexagrams of the Chinese I-Ching, also known as the Book of Changes. In this column we present, month by month, the Gates that are activated by the passage of the Sun, and any Channel that might come into being in combination with the movement of other planets. Together they influence everything that happens to us, as we are individuals immersed in the collective cosmic energy…
Zodiac Signs: Sagittarius to Capricorn
Note: We start the month from day 4, which sees the entry of the Sun into a new Gate. Until 3rd December, the Sun is in Gate 9, Applied Details (see our November issue).
4-8 December – Gate 5 ~ Waiting
This Gate holds the secret of universal time, the key to which is… patience, for things happen when they must, just as the seed, under the right circumstances, sprouts when it is time, neither before nor afterwards. It is therefore also the Gate of timing, or lack thereof: to be or not to be in sync with existence. These days we may find ourselves in unexpected situations and realise that, without having it planned, we have the possibility of altering the course of events. It is a Gate that we have in common with all living beings, as part of the Channel of Rhythm, 5-15, also known as the ‘single cell design’; just as every human being is defined by the so-called Human Design ‘bodygraph’ every cell is defined by this Channel that connects the Sacral to the Self Centre.
9-14 December – Gate 26 ~ Accumulation
The ‘Taming Power of the Great’, as the I-Ching hexagram 26 is called, is a Gate of great power, both in the material world as in the realm of the inner self. Not unlike Gate 5, it is related to the natural realm, specifically to birds, reptiles and fish. During these days it is possible to use this power and meet our needs and those of our communities. It is important to be clear in our intentions: are we working for the common good or just pursuing our personal agendas? For this Gate it makes no difference because its energy is neutral and not in the slightest moralistic, but it can make a huge difference to us and those around us. It is also Osho’s Gate, in the sense that on his birthday, 11 December, the Sun is in this very position.
15-19 December – Gate 11 ~ Harmony
This is one of the most amiable Gates in the whole Human Design System. Its perfect balance of the Yin and Yang forces, with Earth resting on Heaven, is a sign of peace and harmony. In this balance, ideas for promoting social harmony can make their way and find fulfilment and expression. In our personal lives, too, we can draw on these beneficial energies, perhaps by giving closure to old conflicts or looking for lost friends and family members. It is important not to identify ourselves with ideas and concepts, but to let them take their course; however beautiful they might be, they must not become more important than real people or things, otherwise we can easily find ourselves victims (or perpetrators) of a useless idealism.
20-25 December – Gate 10 ~ Behaviour
This Gate gives us the opportunity to find the right place, and the right pace, for ourselves and what we want to undertake. The laws of behaviour are an important part of this process, in the sense that knowing what do and how to do it, in every circumstance, is a skill that opens each and every door in life. Gate 10 also brings about an intrinsic love for the journey of life in itself: it is because of this love that we manage to overcome obstacles and difficulties and come through unscathed. In these six days we may gain important understandings about those situations in which we have felt we had not behaved correctly or had not given our best. It’s the right time to restore a relaxed easiness in the way we are treating ourselves, others and life’s situations.
25-30 December – Gate 58 ~ Joyous Vitality
Like Gate 11, this Gate is absolutely auspicious and gifts us with the joy and the life force to regroup and regenerate in view of the year that is about to begin. Perhaps it is not a coincidence that the Christmas festivities, generally bearers of peace and joy, fall on this very month. One of the messages of Gate 58 is ‘Remember that joy is not something you find, but something you create’. So during these days, let’s not miss the opportunity to create something beautiful, within and without. This vital spark comes from a very important quality of our essential nature: the desire and the urgency to plunge into life, spontaneously and fearlessly as children do, but without forgetting to draw on our grown-up wisdom.
Note: 31st December sees the Sun in Gate 38, Opposition, which we will cover in the January issue.
