Recollections of Osho Disciples on how they became his sannyasins

INTRODUCTION

“I have found my people. I have found my world. I have found a small planet of my own, where love is the only law, where laughter is prayer, where dancing is divine, where every moment is sacred, and where to be natural is the only spirituality.” More…

OCEAN OF LOVE

The past is no more. As to my relationship with Bhagwan now… it is difficult to put into words. I know that his physical form was only a manifestation of the inner guru, the ocean of love and grace that is always available to us in the present moment. I am eternally grateful for the fact that he was one of the first doors that allowed me to access that ocean of love, bliss, and abundance. I am also grateful for the inspiration and encouragement his presence gave me. It would have been difficult to believe that one can embody cosmic compassion and unconditional love unless I had witnessed it in person in his presence. I would have thought these were abstract concepts too lofty to ever claim. His presence in my life showed me that love, grace, and compassion are not only accessible to all of us; they are our true nature. Read more…

SWEEPING THE LEAVES IN HEAVEN

I first heard of Osho, then called Bhagwan, through my mother-in-law, a crabby English woman who followed her son to Australia, for she employed a person to work in her garden once or twice a week. One day she complained that her ‘gardening boy’ was leaving. I liked him, and that day, we chatted for a while, and he told me he was going to India to meet a man he had heard of from a friend, Indivar, who was the inspiration for many to journey to meet Osho. The ‘gardening boy’ was called Samant Bhadra. Read more…

Ma Prem Jeevan

YOU HAVE BEEN HERE LONG BEFORE YOU CAME

In 1972, at the age of 45 and after I had raised four kids, my husband, Paul, and I moved into a Los Angeles commune where three of my teenage children lived. The commune was called Ellis Island, named after the place where the Statue of Liberty stands in the New York harbour. This is where immigrants from the old world arrived to seek a new life. This house, with 12 young friends (including my kids), welcomed us with love and curiosity. We lived collectively, with no hierarchy, meeting together once a week to deal with any difficulties that arose. Also at that time, I was in training as a Radical Therapist with a Women’s Collective in Venice, California, and living in this atmosphere was a great help for all the changes I was going through after 27 years of marriage. Ma Deva Renu

MA DEVA RENU (Divine Dust)

(I had hoped for a name that sounded more spiritually inspiring, but Bhagwan told me that my name would mean ‘divine dust’. He said that dust is all we are made of, but it is divine, too. Each particle of dust is a particle of God.)

Born in 1956 in Santa Monica, California, U.S.A. Renu took sannyas in 1977 and presently lives in Santa Barbara, California, U.S.A.
