Am I truly living?

Notes

Asks Mala after hearing about a dear friend who’s just had a diagnosis of cancer.

Iridescent play of light in the forest-the melodic song of silence cr Allan Forest

How long is this body going to last?
And does it matter if I binge, exercise or fast?
Health is unpredictable, coming and going
And when death is a-coming, we ain’t a-knowing.

Am I truly living? …That’s the question
‘Cos when a diagnosis comes along, there’s no more messing.
When we have worries and fears that we’re not enough,
Death makes us realise the important stuff.

So – I tell myself – live the life you were born to live
With so much to be and so much to give
Living a life for the benefit of all –
Standing exalted, shining and tall.
