A new meditation centre, created by Jagdish Bharti and friends, will be inaugurated on 21st March 2024 with a meditation retreat facilitated by Chaitanya Keerti
Every year, from November/December to February/March most tourists from the West, especially the ‘spiritual tourists’, go to Goa. But when it starts getting hot in Goa, they start travelling up north to the sacred and heavenly State of Uttarakhand, the birthplace of Yoga, the Yoga Capital of the World, in time to participate at the International Yoga Festival which is held annually at the beginning of March (this year it’s from today, 8th until 14th March).
“It is quite surprising,” Keerti writes, “that these last few years more and more Osho lovers from around the world, but also from India, have been coming to Rishikesh. One of the attractions was the Osho Ganga Dham Meditation Centre, which is located in Brahampuri, an isolated area outside Rishikesh on the Ganges River, away from the crowds and noise of the main areas.
“Also, about half a dozen Osho sannyasins have been coming regularly to Rishikesh to organise month-long Yoga Teacher or Meditation Teacher Trainings at Master level; almost all being Indian Osho disciples. They also facilitate Veeresh’s AUM meditations, Ayurvedic massage, and all kinds of things.
“Osho Ganga Dham’s success has inspired many more Osho centers to open during these last 5-10 years; the likes of Osho Maikada, Osho Shivdham, Dhyan Mandir, Osho Gita Meditation Center, Osho Mystery Meditation School, and Osho Ganga Sagar. And I may be missing a name or two…”
Now, the most recent one is Unio Mystica Rishikesh. The driving force behind this project is Swami Jagdish Bharti, whose unstoppable creativity (after working as a designer for the Hindi Osho Times, then as a free-lance graphic designer for Zorba Design which published the illustrated biography, Call of the Ocean, he produced the full-length feature film, Rebellious Flower, which depicts Osho’s early days and won many International Awards) inspired Swami Narendra, Swami Nitin Anand and Ma Prem Kalpana to contribute in their capacity to realize this dream.
It took almost three years to complete this remarkable project (the land was bought in 2020). It’s an impressive 5-storey building (ground floor and 4 upper floors), hosting a large meditation room, a smaller meditation / session room, a dining hall called ‘Tea Temple’ which also serves as a place for meeting friends and for sharing, a kitchen serving delicious vegetarian food, bathrooms with hot water, and 20 rooms for guest accommodation, some overlooking the Rajaji National Park across the river. The garden with a spacious lawn can serve for yoga and meditations that can be held outdoors. One of the main attractions is, of course, the Ganges which is just a 2-minute walk away. The meditation centre also hosts a complete collection of Osho’s books for research.
The daily meditation programme offered to visitors and residents is: Dynamic and Kundalini meditations, plus the Evening Meeting with video or audio discourse.
To celebrate Osho’s Enlightenment Day, Unio Mystica Rishikesh will have its first meditation retreat, Rising in Love, which serves in a way also as a Grand Opening Celebration. This event will be facilitated by Swami Chaitanya Keerti.
