Mother & Child

Art Gallery

Paintings by Nataraj (Angelo Saka)

Why did I start this project, why was it so important for me, so that I even painted over older paintings?

I left home at a very young age. I was only 14 when I left our village to pursue my studies in the capital, Tirana. Then I left the country altogether. I’ve now lived in Greece for 33 years. So I’ve spent most of my life away from my parents (I have visited them sometimes, but it felt more like being a tourist).

Maybe now, with this Mother & Child Project, I have found the opportunity to finally express my gratitude for having had such a precious mother, such precious parents.

Right now I happen to be in Albania, taking care of my mother after she had surgery (all her children are living abroad and Father died 4 years ago). And this month she is turning 80. There will be big a celebration in town!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Love is our true nature, my friend…

(I’ve been working on this canvas since 2020. What a transformation!)

Love, take care of yourself, my friend, like your mother did, or still does.

Sunday is definitely the prefect day to go in depth and find the essence in a work of art.

My dear friend, live and love and create as if today was the only day left on this Planet.

(I destroyed a flute player, which I had sitting there since 2017, for this new painting for my Mother & Child project.)

Yes, this is my daily creative occupation, each evening. Sometimes it includes the magic of Dostoevsky’s word portraits in books like The Brothers Karamazov.

(Many thanks to my special friend and her daughter for the inspiration.)
