Neehar

Australian Neehar took sannyas in Pune early 1978 and soon established the production of fresh clean vegetables and salads that began to appear in the ashram’s canteens to the delight of all sannyasins. In Rajneeshpuram, he was massively engaged in upgrading the land and also started the veggie farm which expanded enormously, very quickly.

In Pune 2 he was also providing the ashram with organic vegetables, having found several local farmers who participated in farming them. Around mid-1990 he took over the creation of Osho Teerth Park from Rashid who had begun the project, and was joined by Siddhena, Vedant and Vedanand among others.

Several years after Osho left his body, Neehar fell in love with Mooji and for several years was a core figure creating Mooji’s base and ashram, Sahaja, in Portugal.

He moved back to New South Wales, Australia in 2013, where he lived until he left his body.

Neehar had been suffering from metastatic cancer and other related diseases, and his health had deteriorated rapidly by the end of January. After a particularly difficult and agonizing night during which he also fell from his bed, he was brought to a hospital. Only a few friends could see him because only vaxxed people were allowed. Among those who were finally allowed to be with him were Nirada, Sangito, and Samira.

Sangito had a recorded message from Mooji for Neehar on her phone, which she placed close to his ear. Although Neehar’s breathing was rattling, exactly at the very end of Mooji’s message Neehar’s entire expression changed… it was like a sudden “Ah this!” Friends observed that he instantly shot out of his body and was gone…. Gate gate para gate para sam gate bodhi swaha…

In Loving Memory of Neehar
(Peter John Douglass)
from Mooji’s FB group

We love and honour our beloved sangha brother, Neehar, who passed away in Australia on 4 February.

Neehar is a deeply cherished member of this family who was at Moojibaba’s side from the very early days of Monte Sahaja. Through Neehar’s wisdom, Yes! attitude and contagious positivity, Sahaja grew and flourished in this wonderful way that many even called magical. Most radiant was his love and commitment to Moojibaba and to complete Self-discovery. […]

Beloved, Neehar, son of Sahaja, our hearts are with you. May you rest in timeless peace.

Om Namah Shivaya

Goodbye Neehar

at last neehar’s ashes scattered…
strong onshore wind
but the rip tide took ashes and flowers
out to sea wave after wave

Ahh old sport, you have headed off already. For three years, in Poona One, we worked intensely side by side to grow for the Master the freshest, healthiest, organic vegetables and herbs that we could. In the end the efforts of our crew triumphed over harsh weather and degraded soil. And Mukta was our ever-loving, ever-vigilant, ever-inspiring boss. What a base from which to launch into the cosmos!
Fare you well, old friend.

Neehar in discourse

Beloved Neehar, I have always loved you and felt your love. I have admired you as a sannyasin hero. You have lived so authentically and courageously, and I could not share my feelings in words, so I am sure you felt them. We can’t fake what we are, and you faked it less than almost anyone I have known.
Blessings, my fellow bodhisattva, like they say “Its a glorious job, but someones got to do it.”
Love forever

When I heard Neehar was going, I became very upset and realized that I had never been as open and intimate with him as I wanted to be. Since that day, I have been more honest, loving, intimate with all my patients, friends and even Ma Carolyn, my wife and long-time beloved. This was Neehar’s parting gift to me which I hope you will share as a comment on his obituary along with the letter. We need to be more honest, open and intimate with our gurubhai (and everyone) to live Osho’s vision.
Love
Bodhicitta
