A letter from Samya
Dearest friends,
Our dear Ma Amitabha has left this world. Her body was failing, she was in much pain and without energy, so she bravely departed out of her own choice. She left behind her daughters, Mascha and Nina, and I am writing this with their permission.
Amitabha took sannyas in 1979. After spending some time in Turkey, with Antar Jila and her daughter Nina, experiencing Sufism, they heard about Osho. They returned to Frankfurt, got themselves an orange wardrobe and left for the ashram ready to take sannyas.
Amitabha was a loving mother and a very special soul. She could always see the truth under the surface and lived to her last moment in awareness of this world. She had nursed her parents with endless care till they departed.
She loved beauty on all levels and had a very chic sense for clothing. She introduced me to handbags, telling me all about the psychology-myth around them – and the joy of owning them.
I will never forget a dinner together at my home in the UK. We received a wrong-number phone call from someone and we played along for a long time, then burst out in laughter. Amitabha knew how to have fun with simple things.
In her later years she was very much involved in The Path of Love and I know she will be missed by them.
You are greatly missed and never forgotten.
Goodbye, dear Amitabha, till we meet again…
Alert thanks to Megha

Dear Amitabha,
It’s been more than 25 years that we last met in India… and now I hear of your choice to leave this ‘space suit’, as you used to call your body when we hung out in your beautiful little cottage at Out of Africa in Pune, and explored the mysteries of life…
You were a fascinating and loving friend, inspiring me, the younger one by a bit, to be authentic to the core. I thank you for that.
I marvelled at your ability to create beauty and to be your unique self. We shared tears, and rage, and most intimate thoughts, and then life took us on different paths.
News of your departure from this spaceship has touched me at some deep and precious and eternal place, where soul friendships live.
Ride on, dear fellow traveller,
Ma Alok Atmo
