An insight by Subhan
At any time, if we want to get somewhere, we have to start with knowing where we are right now. Without knowing where we are starting from, it will be impossible to end up where we want to go. So, if we are unconscious of where we really are in this moment, we will never get to some other intended future spot, no matter how hard we try.
And to make matters worse, mystics like Osho have said that we are already at the place we are looking for – but we don’t recognize it, since we think it is somewhere in the future.
No wonder we’ve never reached ‘happiness’ or ‘satisfaction’ or ‘peace’ or ‘success’ or ‘worthiness’ – or any place like that, since we are unconsciously, unknowingly already there, but ignorant of that fact.
Apparently, the Chinese Taoist Master, Lao Tzu put it this way: “Stop leaving, and you will arrive.”
We are at the place we are looking for. That is why we cannot find it.
What is needed is that we wake up from our unconscious identification with the overthinking mind, and voila! We have arrived in this now moment, in this now space, which has always been available.
It already contains everything that we have been looking for. All that was needed was for us to wake up to it.
So the whole ‘journey’ is about stopping the search for something in other places, and finding it right here, under our own noses.
And the best tools for that are watchfulness and meditation.
