Antarctic

Enjoy the spirit of Ancient India in the Frozen South, and rejuvenate your relationship in ways that might surprise you.

Our ice-breaking cruise ship, the Khajuraho Calling, is equipped with a fully glass-walled group room. You haven’t really lived until you’ve experienced Yab Yum with your beloved, one of you looking over the other’s shoulder out one window, the other looking in the opposite direction out another window, while the ship rises 60 feet on a wave and then plummets into the trough; to rise again… while whale songs float through the sound system, bathing your bare skin in electric shivers whilst at the same time bringing deep peace to your inner organs.

The Antarctic is a place of incredible magic – an awesome sensory overload of white ice, blue sky (and sometimes blue ice and white sky), and deep black sea; with comical penguins doing their Charlie Chaplin dances in vast flocks. We will spend two weeks meditating together, using techniques that ever-deepen connection whilst also aligning you with your own inner vastness. Our group room is cosily heated, so that you can remain as unclothed as if you were in Hawaii; yet the rearing mountains and the glittering fields of ice are always in view. There is a sauna on board, where the post-heat ice bath simply involves sliding down a chute onto the ship’s deck. (There is a buzzer so that someone can let you back in.)

Heating and cooking are accomplished using bio-fuel made from penguin droppings. We will be bringing plenty of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables; our Naked Mango Feast is a much-loved tradition.

Our on-board Shamaness, Ghalila, has worked extensively with Penguin colonies to understand the secret of their devotion and faithfulness as both partners and parents. She has distilled the essence of Penguin coupledom into a gem, ice, and feather tincture which we will be both consuming in our breakfast juice and applying to our auras.

The interior of our beautiful ship is decorated with mirror-work hangings and cushions, sacred statuary, carved elephants, and colourful Indian bedspreads. You will feel at home as sitar music echoes the horizontal timelessness of the landscape, and authentic smells of an Indian temple are wafted through the air. Every statue is fastened firmly to its perch, so you needn’t worry about one encountering you in a storm. (The Southern Ocean is famous for its high winds and skyscraping waves. How comfortable we will be, watching from our safe glass haven!)

If, however, you are especially adventurous, there will be the option of Storm Bungee: during any of the powerful tempests we are likely to meet, you can be tied onto a 70-ft Bungee cord that is fastened to the stern of the ship. When the bow plunges vertically into a deep trough you will find yourself swinging free and reckless, yet perfectly safe, right into the teeth of the storm! And if both of you would like this amazing experience, you can do ‘side-by-side bungee’, as we have two cords!

We will be without WiFi for the entire two weeks, to allow you to take full advantage of the many couple meditations on offer each day. At times the sea is tranquil, and you will find yourself settling into an unparalleled level of the best kind of ‘chill’. So if ‘the world’ is getting you down, Khajuraho Calling is the place for you. Just sacred silence, sitar, whale-song, and, sometimes, the crashing of waves and howling of wind… for 14 blissful days and long white nights.

The retreat to end all retreats!
