Peter Makena shares with us his version of this famous mantra
Buddham Sharanam Gachchhami
Sangham Sharanam Gachchhami
Dhammam Sharanam Gachchhami
I go to the feet of the Awakened One
I go to the feet of the commune of the Awakened One
I go to the feet of the truth of the Awakened One
Turning the ‘Gachchhamis’ into a song and give them a melody has been a dream of mine since I first heard and chanted them in India. I attempted to express the sense of deep, unquestioned devotion and trust in this traditional Buddhist prayer. I love the piano solo, played by Maneesh de Moor. It shines through in its simplicity and inspiration!
I am happy to share this track here as I sense that you, the listener, will recognise and value the depth of this statement: I seek refuge at the feet of the Buddha, the Sangha and the Dharma.
