A poem by Rashid.

The Face Behind the Face (13)

Oh dear
this poem
is again the same
as the last one
and the ones before
always saying
to the youniverse
thank you
thank you
thank you
for this
unerring heartbeat
and the treasury
of brilliance held
behind these locked-down lids
for buckled ears
that funnel in
an orchestra of sound
and for a mouth
of ripe crushed tastes
for a life
that blazes briefly
as a comet
as grace
and thank you
for a mind
to finely frame
these silly words
thank you
my dear
