The Undiscovered Land

Sannyas May 1977

I found a dancing stranger
In a hidden part of me
I so loved this dancing stranger
I had to set him free
To travel on the ancient path
To find and understand
The tender language of the heart
The undiscovered land

Beyond old friends and family
And all I had been told
And all the painful memories
I could no longer hold
A joyful song burst from my bones
Chaotic but so real.
Now I still celebrate that day
When I began to feel.

You can call this a prayer
A sacrament of grateful tears
I’m still breathing the fresh air
Beyond the measure of my fears.
