DJ dies in an accident on 6th August 2012.

Mega writes: “Atit Manaskam was one of my great soul brothers. He was well known in our sannyas community in particular for being a DJ in Pune. Atit was one of the first guys who rented big boats in Goa for his Trance Paries in the late 90’s and onwards. We often met while I was still living in India. He had told me he would come to the Osho Tribe reunion in Munich this coming September and that we would meed there again. Too bad that he is gone. I am in shock and tears. Love.”
Atit had an accident in the aftermath of the Boom Festival in Idanha-a-Nova, Portugal, on Monday 6th August, and died shortly afterwards. Through his brother Roland we hear that he had hit his head on a rock after jumping in a river.
The cremation was the following day, in the afternoon they brought the ashes by boat to the ocean – “That’s what he wanted,” says Roland. And almost as an epitaph he adds, “He never worked – he never made holidays.”

Dear brothers and sisters, I was at Utopia when Atit died. Me and my friends Zam, Donn, Sarah, Shivy and Jessie were at the river when we found the body. Zam and Donn were actually the two guys who jumped into the river to get the body out of the water, and the ones who gave him cardiac massage and mouth-to-mouth respiration while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. We don’t remember seeing any wounds on his head, but we were all pretty shocked while trying to bring him back to life. It was an intense experience for each one of us.
I got to know his name today, by chance, when I found out he was a good friend of a friend of mine. As it has to be: the circle closes. Since we came back from Utopia we were wondering what exactly happened to him, his identity, his life and who he was, because the police didn’t give us much information. We prayed for him and his family and wished him all the best in his journey to the other world. Rest in Peace Atit,

Hey Atit, in the last years I didn’t manage to come to India, but I was sure that if one day I travelled down to Goa you would be the first Broo I would see, with the unforgettable smile you have always had.
