Spring…and more than daffodils in
Regents Park or roses that drape themselves
in such postcard-perfect abundance over Devon cottages
today it’s the wildflowers in Corfu
that take my breath away.
Along my path I pause to gaze as
they lean gently into dancing shafts of
morning sunlight.
Here is nothing contrived; no attempt to
cry out ‘Hey, look at me!’
From our jaded world of endless
self–promotion,
the fighting for
our five minutes of fame,
to that innocence,
that humility,
that unapologetic state of
simply being.
