Four years ago, we featured an inspiring story about 92 year-old Tao Porchon-Lynch.
Born in Pondicherry, India, in 1918, she was attracted to yoga at a young age. In her youth, she met Mahatma Gandhi, who was her uncle’s close acquaintance, and marched with him on two separate occasions. She also participated in demonstrations with Charles de Gaulle and Martin Luther King, Jr. Now 96 years old she is going strong as ever. In a recent interview, the oldest known living and practising yoga instructor asserts her inspiring attitude to live fully and positively, saying she feels wonderful. In her book, The Yogic Journey of Life, she recalls her fascinating past; among her teachers were BKS Iyengar, K. Pattabhi Jois, and Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
I really enjoy living.
And that makes you realise
inside of you is a power
and that power can do anything.
