Risk was the first place outside of Pune to develop and host an Osho Therapy Training. Until then it took place only in Pune as an intensive 2-month process. Shortly after Risk was founded in 1986, a vision came to life: to make this deep, transformational journey accessible for “normal” people in the “normal” world, meaning leaving time for integration, regular jobs and family lives.

When asked for his blessing, Osho responded, “They are my people. They can do it.” From 1990 till 2020 it was the core activity of the cosy centre that is Osho Risk, and over the years more than 500 people have completed the training.

During the covid break, several first-generation sannyasins who had been looking after Risk since its first days, started retiring and a new, younger team stepped into management. With this change, a fresh energy has been brought in and the training has been updated in such a way that it can better meet the realities and needs of our present times.

The new training is a refined version of the old Therapist Training; shortened in duration and modified in content, but still based on the energy and experience of the past three decades.

The first round runs from January 2024 to April 2025 – and a few spaces are still available!

Modules - Training for TransformationSo, what is this training about?

The Therapist Training is a group process in eight modules spread over 15 months. The modules build up naturally atop each other, and each gives a clear and loving mirror into the different aspects of our psyche and being.

The first half is a real ‘getting down to basics’: learning how to discover what is held in the body, the conditionings, masks, projections; we revisit childhood and adolescence and connect to our story and emotions, and clean out what doesn’t belong to us.

The second half brings us to the present and expands our capacity to take responsibility for our adult life, and to move in life with compassion, clarity and meditation.

The group meets roughly every two months for six intensive days. Each time we take a step deeper into a new topic and acquire a new set of transformative tools. Many of us know the mechanism that follows stand-alone groups: after taking a huge step in the group room, life comes sneaking up on us and we are pulled back into our old habitual, non-fulfilling ways of living. However, the continuity given by the training supports the possibility of retaining and integrating not only what we have learned, but also maintaining the openings we have experienced.

The therapists and modules

  1. Breath Work with Dwari. Life starts with a deep inhale. But breathing often becomes limited as trauma enters our story. This first module brings us back to the beginning, to re-inhabiting our bodies, expanding our capacity to hold our own energy, and to hold life itself.
  2. Body Types with Moumina gives an incredible understanding of core beliefs created in early childhood, and how our reality shapes us energetically and physically according to biological intelligence. This knowledge can help us find compassion for and to break free from these powerful ingrown patterns.
  3. Inner Child with Agni. Revisiting early life experiences and befriending the little one who is still alive inside. As this relationship grows, we find trust in ourselves and find freedom to take decisions from the present.
  4. Sexual Deconditioning with Svarup. So much happened in the transition from child to adult and in our first intimate meetings. This is a unique chance to open what has closed down for us around individuality, sexuality and connection.
  5. Dance Alchemy with Maneesha. A beautiful work, which helps us connect to our emotional intelligence – and gives us concrete tools to alchemise frozen inner parts and bring them to the fluidity of the present moment.
  6. Self Love with Tarika. This module gives a solid cerebral understanding of projections and other disruptions of inner truth, and supports us in really owning our behaviors, finding self compassion and returning to our natural state of love.
  7. Intimacy and Relationships with Anjori and Dhairya, whose work is based on their own journey as a couple for 25 years. A tantric approach of saying yes to what is, not excluding any parts. In this module we get to know our own energy, and relate firstly to our own inner lover. A deep, respectful energy work that brings a whole new dimension to relating and relationships.
  8. The Art of Dying and Let-Go with Ramateertha. Ending the journey in beautiful Silence. Learning to let go, ultimately trusting Existence and going beyond the whole game of personality and ego, embodying the deep knowing that there is no separation. All is one and we are part of it.

All of the therapists involved in the training have decades of experience in their fields and offer a solid transmission of Osho’s energy, each in their unique way.

Doing it together

We can well imagine the depth of connection that can develop in the group when each person goes through all this, and yet goes through it together. We’re geared to think our pain and limitations are unique and that others could never understand us. But in a group like this we learn that no matter what we put out on the table, someone else will be able to relate to it. This has a strong healing effect, especially with anything that is shame-based, as we realize how very similar our experiences and needs are.

We see each other shake, break, lose control and fall out of character. And when we dare to lose our shit in front of other people, we learn how to love – and be loved. It is incredibly validating to do such intimate work on ourselves in front of other people, instead of with just a single therapist.

The question “Are we worthy of love?” that most of us carry in ourselves, slowly melts and gives space for genuine compassion and belonging. We get to know people very deeply, probably deeper than our family and old friends, and the bonding that happens in the Training often leads to lifelong friendships.

Also, our fellow travellers become anchors of accountability. As we sit there, again and again, and listen to each other’s loops, we are being called out on patterns and limitations – and that’s so incredibly revealing…

Meeting month after month with those who have witnessed us, will keep us on track with our process. In this way the group becomes a safe place to practise new ways, new responses and behaviours; a place to challenge what we used to believe ourselves to be. And a place to find how to integrate meditation in many different areas of life.

Who is the Therapy Training for?

When asked who this training is for, we find it difficult to come up with a single straight answer, because we see participants in all stages of life who then call it “the best gift I have ever given to myself.” It can become a game-changer for a therapist wishing to expand their capacities in holding space for others. Or it can be vital for someone simply looking for more understanding of themselves and their relationships.

Why a training at Osho Risk?

That the training is in a community adds a whole other dimension to it. Rather than being in a secluded retreat centre, the participants here will be part of a living community – an actual home with a friendly and intimate atmosphere. It’s a place that (to the surprise of most first-time guests) becomes instantly a source of nourishment and belonging. Most of those living here have already gone through the training and know the intensity of it. In a moment of crisis, anyone will always be able to find someone on the sofa who can offer a cuddle.

Risk is a place where we all help out with the dishes, real and metaphorical! Where we are welcomed if we arrive early or want to stay after the modules are over to integrate what we have gone through. Where we can even spend Christmas together! It’s a place where we can become part of a big, beautiful (and slightly cuckoo) family, 365 days a year.

Welcome!
