Colourpuncture – a healing journey through colour, light and love

Coloured lights

Love is the magic word. It’s so special how certain people keep finding each other again…

22 years ago, my journey with colourpuncture began as part of my higher vocational training to become a holistic naturopathic therapist.

Even though I’m severely visually impaired, I can – thank God – perceive and feel colours. The effect of colourpuncture touched me deeply. It felt very healing for me, and later also for my clients.

What is Colourpuncture?

Colourpuncture is a gentle, yet deeply healing method in which I apply light and colour to specific points on the body. It works on the meridians, like acupuncture, but without needles. Each colour has its own frequency – a vibration that opens, softens, balances, or empowers.

Meeting Praveeta – a soul connection

11 years ago, a colleague and I visited a training institute for continued education in colourpuncture. When the door opened, to my great surprise, there stood someone I already knew from the 1980s: Praveeta.

We once danced together at Zorba the Buddha – a place full of free spirits. Even then I felt: love is the magic word. Since that day, I’ve attended as many of her training sessions as possible.

Praveeta is a fully certified teacher, recognised by the Dutch foundation KTNO (Foundation for Quality and Assessment of Nature-oriented Education) and provides advanced training for therapists.

Her training is profound and enriching. I’m so grateful for everything I’ve been able to learn from her.

Colourpuncture in my practice

In my practice, I primarily offer healings and readings. Additionally, I have a treasure chest of special tools that I intuitively use during sessions. Colourpuncture is one of them.

What continues to amaze me: sometimes I only place my hands over someone’s eyes, without using colourpuncture, and afterward, people often say:

“I saw purple.” “I saw green.” “There was yellow light.”…

Every colour tells a story. Each colour carries a message, an effect on a soul level.

The power of colour – then and now

When I started 22 years ago, almost no one had heard of colourpuncture. But nowadays, colour is an integral part of the world of healing and health:

  • Red light therapy – red light for pain relief or skin rejuvenation
  • Chromotherapy – bathing in colour to influence body and mind
  • LED masks – light therapy for the face and mood
  • Aura Soma – bottles of coloured oils for energetic work
  • Bioptron light – coloured, polarised light for medical use
  • Colour visualisations in meditation – a colour for healing, strength or calmness
  • Coloured sunglasses – even well-known designers harness the power of colour

What’s funny is that in the Dutch Colourpuncture Institute, coloured glasses were available decades ago: green lenses to calm down, orange for those inclined toward sadness, yellow to bring clarity.

It’s no coincidence we say: “To show one’s true colours, To see red, To get the blues, To be green behind the ears, To see everything through rose-tinted glasses.”

Each colour speaks – in its own way.

A short colour visualisation – feel the colour of your heart

Close your eyes for a moment.
Feel your feet on the ground.
Take a slow breath in… and as you exhale, release everything you don’t need right now.
Bring your attention to your heart area.
Imagine a beam of light appears there… a soft glow.
Don’t look with your eyes, but with your feeling:

What colour does appear?
Maybe you see purple? Or gold? Maybe you feel blue, pink or green?
Let the colour come, without judgement.
Feel what this colour does to you.
Let it gently flow through your heart…
and further through your entire body:
your shoulders, your arms, your belly, your legs.

Now imagine this colour is saying something to you.
A message? A feeling? A memory?
Stay in this flow a little longer.
Let the colour do its work.
It knows exactly what you need.
And when you’re ready, take one last deep breath of that colour…
Feel how you’re filled with love, light, and vitality…

Gently open your eyes again.

Which colour was it?
And what did it bring to you?

I wish you lots of colour in your life, so that you may shine in your own light.

Love is the magic word.

With love,
