Last year, a German sannyasin, Neerav, organised for his 60th birthday a five-day festival at the Parimal Commune in Witzenhausen – and gave it a theme: Poona Revival. Guests were invited to come dressed in the colours of the sunrise. The idea was too successful not to be repeated this year.

From 12 to 16 October this year, Osho Parimal once again opened its doors for the 2nd Poona Revival Festival. This time, I decided to join – and what an experience it was!

When I arrived, the gardens were glistening from the rain – so awesome for someone who normally lives in the big city.

The four days were filled with a rich programme: Dynamic Meditation, morning singing, readings of Osho’s letters accompanied by live music, short films from Poona and from the time of Osho’s death, sharing meetings, Nadabrahma, Kundalini and White Robe meditations. Even the communal breakfasts, lunches and dinners were experiences in themselves – and the food was simply delicious!

White Robe each evening featured outstanding live musicians. One evening they played for Nataraj to which I danced to my heart’s content. The next evening, a music group brought back the old cherished songs – some I had almost forgotten! And still the night wasn’t over: the celebration continued in the WunderBar with improv theatre and disco.

What I appreciated the most, and feel grateful for, were the sharings!

All four days felt like an ongoing Who Is In? group – a rare opportunity to connect with fellow sannyasins who, like me, have gone through the same experiences with Osho, Sannyas and the Commune over the past 45 years. Meeting these friends again – some I hadn’t seen since Poona One – was something truly special.

When I returned home last night after five hours on the train, sitting quietly in my room, a song echoed inside me – one many of us will remember:

“Draw near, draw near, draw near, draw near, and I will whisper in your ear
The name whose fragrance makes the spheres to dance – Osho!
Just a glimpse of the real man standing there,
We are in love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love…”
