Allan Deekshant Forest’s stunning photographs exhibited at the Gibsons Public Art Gallery (Oct 30 – Nov 23, 2025), BC, Canada
Allan Deekshant Forest was honoured to be accepted to exhibit his photographs at the prestigious Gibsons Public Art Gallery (GPAG) on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia.
Readers of Osho News might remember the online exhibition of August 2023, titled Playfully capturing the energy of the forest. Since that time, Allan’s technique of capturing motion in a single image has evolved, and new images are shown at the exhibition in Gibson.
Osho used to talk of being a drunkard. Allan loved watching him blissfully float across the stage to his chair in Poona…
That’s how he felt while tuning in to photograph the forest. He often found the energy so overwhelming while capturing the images that he could barely walk straight. He is amazed that he didn’t stumble stepping over the many rocks and roots of the forest floor.
At some point, when he looked at the hundreds of images he had collected over the years, he realized he had to stop! He even unconsciously locked up his left leg, making it difficult for him to walk. It’s the leg he uses to push off when capturing images to create the effect of motion. After becoming aware of what he was doing, and had decided that he had more than enough photos, his leg finally unlocked!
Here is an excerpt from an article based on an interview given to the Coast Reporter during the exhibition reception on November 1, 2025:
Connection is at the heart of Allan Forest’s Elemental World, which distills the existential energy of trees through art photography. Works like Stepping into the Source and Sublime Rapture – in which trees rocket heavenward – were inspired by his perambulations through Soames Forest three years ago.
“In the forest there, I felt the energy of the forest. For me, it’s alive,” he said.
“It’s not just the trees – there’s something alive about this place, and it occurred to me that I wanted to somehow find a way of expressing that energy, that aliveness.”
The “elementals” of his title is a nod to the invisible spirits of the forest.
“The whole forest is vibrating because there’s a community of trees and they’re all joined together at the root system,” he said.
Forest’s titles reflect the awe that such sights inspire: in Temptation of the Majestic, conifers bend their blurred tops together in a dithyramb to sky the shade of lapis lazuli.
In Patterns Within Patterns, segments of trees encircle a celestial oculus, forming painterly fractals that are simultaneously familiar and alien.
“Not everyone’s going to see it,” added Forest, “but since I put this up on the wall and people are looking at it, a lot of people feel it. This is the feeling of the forest, not just what it looks like.”
