I miss his beautiful gentle soul

by Sarva

Swami Anand Sugeet (Johnathan Posey) passed on his 83rd birthday in an assisted living facility in Medford, Oregon, surrounded by loving friends and his dog Magick. For some years he had suffered from various illnesses and could no longer walk.

In Poona One, Sugeet worked as a handyman and I worked on the stage of the Radha Meditation Hall. That’s where we fell in love and our journey together started.

When Osho left Poona, Sugeet was already in San Francisco, California. I then joined him at Paras, SF and at the Meditation Center in Oakland, where we stayed till we moved to the Ranch in autumn 1981. Sugeet worked with the moving crew and then as a bartender, at the Ranch itself but also at Zorba’s in Portland.

After the Ranch, we moved to Maui and built a life together as a couple, living in the ‘world’. He sold art at a Lahaina gallery, enjoyed our cats, became interested in gardening, enjoyed collecting art, making a beautiful home and going to the beach to get a tan. He joined the Big Brother program and attended to Jonah for many years.

After we split up, Sugeet moved to Oregon where he practiced Feng Shui and set up his company ‘Creative Visions’. He was a fan, and volunteered, at the Shakespeare Festival in Ashland.

In his last years, Sugeet’s great joy was his dog.

He was very proud to have been sober for 14 years. The AA became an important part of his life.

Throughout the years, even after our separation, we remained friends. Before this last Christmas we had a lovely talk about the good times, our travels and adventures together. He was still positive that he would recover and start to walk again.

I am grateful for our time together, our friendship and the opportunity to grow in our relationship, as a couple and as individuals. I miss his beautiful gentle soul, his humor and laughs.

Sugeet is survived by his brother Rob, his nephew Dodger and family.

With Love and Aloha,

Sugeet as cowboy

“On 5 January we had a great celebration, scattering his ashes in the ocean amidst jumping whales, and singing There is so much magnificence near the ocean,” writes Prakash who sent the photo above.
