Vinaya on his life with stones (free zoom talk, How to connect with a crystal, 11 January 2026)
It’s a good moment, my fellow travelers on planet Earth. You might have noticed that in this existence there’s one particularly incredible manifestation of frequencies and energies – I’m talking about crystals. They come in an astonishing variety of colors, patterns, vibrations, and subtle information, all in specific geometric form.
Crystals can take up to a few thousand years to grow and, in many cases, need enormous pressure and heat for their formation – just like us.
When I started my life’s journey, I stumbled upon a crystal, and instantly knew: this is it!
It was my first real wow.
From then on I began collecting rocks – going out into nature, searching for crystals, learning everything I could, becoming proficient in knowing their colors, names, stories. You could show me a picture, and I could tell you what mineral it was. That fascination carried me until I was about twenty, when life invited me into another adventure: the inner one.
At thirty, I met Osho – then still Bhagwan. In his presence I immediately knew: there’s more to life than what I see.
Through working on myself in the ashram and participating in meditations, my early passion for crystals, that had been left by the roadside during years of travel, suddenly reawakened. It was as if Osho’s energy rekindled that first spark, but this time on a deeper, more subtle level.
Until then I had known crystals as nature’s wonders. But now they began to speak to me energetically. I remember once watching a man measure a woman’s aura, first when no crystals or jewelry were upon her body. Her field reached about 2 feet out around her. Next, he tested with a Petrovsky crystal containing lead (not particularly beneficial). Her energy field shrank. Then, he placed a clear quartz on her body, and her aura doubled in size.
In that instant, I thought… I know this! The energetics of crystals were familiar to me!
From that moment forward, I began working with crystals by placing them on people for energetic rebalancing, “just knowing” where to put which crystal on the person.
Soon I was traveling all over South India collecting stones, literally truckloads!
Once, a whole lorry full of sparkling quartz arrived in Pune and unloaded outside Laxmi Vilas. And one time I bought approximately 100 beautiful, high-quality Apophyllites from the Pashan quarry in Poona. I displayed them in my room in Laxmi Vilas. But I could not sleep; the energy was too much. It took a few sleepless nights before a friend suggested I cover them. Afterwards I was able to rest again. I opened a crystal shop above the German Bakery, some of you might remember Crystal Art at Nanu’s.
In my shop I introduced many seekers to exploring the power and consciousness of crystals.
One day I encountered Moldavite – which is a fusion of earthly and cosmic material. I started wearing it around my neck as a pendant. I suddenly knew the answer when someone asked which particular stone was good for them. I realized I could sense the answer spontaneously for that person, in that moment.
Everything shifted from knowledge to intuition. The feedback was almost always a “Wow, that is exactly what I need.”
Crystals became my living teachers and companions. I think that crystals and gems are here to help us on our path – they can reveal what’s important, where healing is needed, which gifts are waiting to unfold.
I taught workshops on how to connect with a crystal, how to meditate with their help, and how we can program a quartz crystal to assist in energetic protection. As I explored and worked more with them, my intuitive crystal readings were born; something I still love doing today, always with the same purpose: to help people become more aware.
Osho rarely spoke directly about crystals, yet he mentioned quartz as a high-vibration mineral – as a tool that can assist us in meditation – not by taking us there – but by helping us attune to awareness and centering.
Osho also spoke of marble as a conductor of subtle energy. Perhaps this is why his room was lined entirely with marble. Marble, I heard him say, could radiate meditative frequencies and hold the energy of the Master. After he left his body, pieces of that marble were distributed and made into pendants and other jewelry as a way for Osho lovers to carry his presence.
In the same way, quartz can be intentionally programmed to hold frequency and amplify intentions. Once I heard Osho saying that we “crystallize into our own being.” To me, that’s exactly what working with crystals is about: becoming clear, centered, and luminous inside.
Some of my happiest moments have been alone in nature, high in the mountains, camping in snow, waking to a frozen morning and setting out to find pockets of quartz or topaz, or any kind of crystals hidden in the rocks. Whether I venture out and find them, or not, doesn’t really matter anymore. The joy is in simply Being there, in silence, in presence.
Crystals have been my companions throughout my life. I still have huge collections in Mexico and Germany, and I still love the thrill of discovering new ones.
But in the end, it’s not about crystals or gongs or any particular tool. Whatever helps us become more aware – that’s our path. Crystals are just one doorway, a tool among many.
So, friends, if we feel drawn to explore this world of living light, let’s follow that pull. Hold a crystal, play a gong, sit in silence and let it bring us home to ourselves. And have a wonderful, sparkling life on this beautiful planet Earth.
