The golden telephone

Jokes

A man was touring the great cathedrals of Europe.

Golden telephone

He starts in Paris, in the Notre Dame, and is confused to see a golden telephone on a marble pillar.

He asks the bishop, “What is this for?”

“Oui, monsieur, that is direct line to heaven. Pour 1000 euros you may speak with Dieu, with God.”

The man rolls his eyes and moves on.

Later on in Cologne, he sees the same thing, and the bishop gives him the same answer. “Ja, mein Herr, this is direct line to Himmel. For 1000 euros, you may speak and meet Gott.”

Later on at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, he’s shocked and disappointed to see the same thing: a golden phone.

The cardinal says to him, “See, Signore, that is direct line to Paradiso. For 1000 euro, you can-a talk to God.”

Utterly disgusted about the profiteering, he finishes his tour at a tiny chapel in Scotland. To his shock, he sees another golden telephone on a marble pillar.

“Let me guess, 1000 pounds to talk to God?”

“Nay, lad, 20 pence.”

“What? Everywhere else in Europe it was 1000 euros.”

“Aye, but you’re in Scotland now. It’s a local call.”
