Alice Herz-Sommer died on 23 February 2014 in London where she had lived since 1986. She was born in Prague in 1903 and studied to become a pianist. She gave concerts and made a name for herself across Europe until the Nazis took over Prague. In 1943 Alice was sent to Theresienstadt, where she played in more than 100 concerts along with other musicians, for prisoners and guards.
