Review of the documentary ‘Home’

We have destructed the balance
that is so essential to life.

I watched this movie almost two years ago and was impressed. As it is circulating throughout cyberspace these days, I took another look at it and found it as remarkable and alarming as then. The film was made by Yann-Arthus Berthrand, a French-born  international journalist, reporter and photographer who, together with a camera man, a camera engineer and a pilot flew in a small helicopter through various regions in over fifty countries to capture the most striking images of our planet;  the documentary took more than 18 months to be completed.

our globe

It is a chronicle of our Earth, showing the development from the very beginnings to the present day. It is also impressive in its ability to get across how everything on our planet is linked and in a natural balance with each other, viz, we are one. It also shows in startling pictures how far we as a species have come to destroy the only home we have, this unique planet among myriads of others in the universe. The message is that in spite of this, we still have the possibility to steer away from the looming abyss and this documentary’s message has so much power that I do anticipate many viewers to listen with their hearts, to sit up, wake up and change their way of life – and stop depleting our natural resources and poisoning our climate.

This whole existence is one cosmic unity.
