Shiva in Varanasi

From the Web

An ode to the Ganges – a public art project showcasing the art of Abhishek Singh.

Shiva in Varanasi: A Tribute to Ganges was a first of it’s kind open air art exhibition along the ghats of Varanasi. Abhishek Singh, well-known as a graphic novel illustrator, has exhibited his art at fine art galleries around the world. He is drawn to depict ancient Hindu mythology in a very modern way.

The six-day exhibition, a tribute to the spirit of Lord Shiva, moved from Assi Ghat to Tulsi Ghat and on to Dashashwamedh Ghat, ending at Manikarnika Ghat (the primary cremation ghat). It’s main focus was on the urgency to clean the river Ganges and for man and nature to coexist peacefully.

…I felt … that if the river is meditating,
how would the river look, how would it be –
and tried to capture that in my sketches.
