…left his body on 29th December 2017.
Paul Akkam, originally from Brooklyn, earned a Master’s degree in nuclear physics at Columbia University, but chose to live an artist’s life and moved to France. Although he never spoke French fluently he chose Paris as his home and cut his ties with his family in the US. He eventually received French citizenship and sporadically worked as a pianist, playing classical music.
He met Osho in Pune 1, visited the Ranch and was also seen around during Pune 2. Akkam was certainly an Osho lover.
Every year, for the last 30 years more or less, he would spend the winter season in India, visiting first Pune – as long as the entry fees matched his budget – then moving south to Goa where he had a few regular friends, mostly musicians.
Akkam is remembered as a sensitive and gentle man, with an aura of mystery and wisdom about him.
He died in Bicholim, Goa, India.
