(14 June 1935 – 12 November 2021)
Yuthika (Tika – Robin-Ann Juniper) died peacefully on 12 November 2021 surrounded by love. She was married to Robert Litchfield Juniper (1929 – 2012), an Australian artist, art teacher, illustrator, painter, printmaker.
In her early years she was well-known as a radio and television reporter in Perth.
Yuthika was involved with the Margaret River Organic Garden for ten years, until 2017. She helped at the Garden over about 10 years. Her daughter Bec Juniper was very influential in the early years as a gardener and garden designer. Yuthika ran a series of highly successful workshops on alternative building techniques through the garden during the 90’s.
“Yuthika founded the Darlington Arts Festival. She took up Guy Grey Smith’s idea of artists’ exhibitions in the Darlington Hall, marshalled the forces of a small but enthusiastic group of friends and laid the foundations for these fifty years of history. With her magnetic enthusiasm, intelligence, skills as a journalist and amazing energy she brought prestige and a discerning audience to the early Darlington festivals, promoting the work of a generation of artists. A passionate believer in the idea of community life.”
She is remembered as very kind-hearted and with a lovely sense of humour.
“Sato, Ben, Sam, Bec and partners Kamalesh, Teesh, Janet, and Jon, grandchildren Asha, Teya, Rio, Finn, Rom, Che, Luca, and Raphael, and great-grandchildren Ari, Felix, Kiri, and Esther, all wish her farewell, and everlasting love and gratitude for a life well-lived and inspiration to do the same. Goodbye, Lovely One. Rest in Peace.”

Hi, Yuthika!
Thank you again for taking care of me so well. We did together Santosh’s long course in Kashmir, dehypnotising our inner child. My inner child fell ill with hepatitis, looked yellow like a lemon, was miserable and grumpy. You were my caretaker, such an enthusiastic and kind-hearted one. With your lovely sense of humour you made me laugh, even in my yellow grumpy state, refusing basically everything. You made me eat, not leaving my bedside till the plate was empty. I of course hated this – but we became good friends anyway.
Now I have not seen you for many years, but I remember you so clearly, full of joy, with gratitude and respect. You have been a great lady!
All my love to your soul, wherever it might flow around right now – enthusiastically, I am sure!
Madita
