A brand-new transformational process with Dhyana and Sudhir (20 December 2025, 20:30h – 22:30h (CET) live online on zoom)

Is it true that Aries people launch themselves onto the dance floor creating all sorts of energised havoc, before coming to a sudden stop, having a look around and wondering what possessed them? Do Librans head off on charm offensive forays, enticing all who cross their paths into a spell of romance – only to come unstuck when deciding who to truly give their energy to? Do Virgos get so caught up in their ideas of perfection, which they unleash on themselves as well as project on others, that they completely forget to dance? Do Cancerians hide in the corner waiting for that exquisite moment of safety in which they can let down their shield and immerse themselves in glorious connection – or is it attachment? Who knows! Maybe – maybe not.
I’ve often wondered about combining astrology and dance. I learned the art of astrology accidentally on the Ranch when the course I booked to do was cancelled. Astrology was what was left. I found myself immersed in a surprisingly wild adventure driven by a combination of the signs of the Zodiac, the energy of various planets and the revelatory power of psychodrama. I was amazed – and my life has been pretty much centred on what happened there ever since. The cosmos really does move in mysterious ways…
What I have learned along the way is that the symbols of astrology are a doorway into the world of archetypes – whether one tips their hat to their predictive power or not. Archetypes are energy patterns stored in the collective unconscious that often ‘live us’, without us being in the slightest bit aware of the fact. To tap into these energies, to get to understand them, and to ultimately be liberated from them, we must partake of experiential, right-brained activities. To merely think about these things is to scratch the surface.
Psychodrama is theatre. Theatre was originally designed by the ancient Greeks as a form of catharsis. Stories too are another pathway to archetypal insight. The myths and legends that are associated with the planets and the signs of the zodiac are living, ever-evolving keys to the world of archetypes. The body is another door. Astrology has always been associated with the body. There are astrological body maps in existence that go right back to Mesopotamia. Astrology, health and healing have been linked for millennia. So, why not dance?
Earlier this year I went back to the Osho International Meditation Resort in Pune. Having worked as a counsellor in the world, with substance users, homeless people, refugees, asylum seekers and more, I wanted a break – and an opportunity to ply my trade in an environment where the commitment to waking up is a given. I put on my wizard’s hat, read charts and did experiential sessions with a whole fresh generation of seekers. This all whilst surrounded by creaking bamboo, trees drenched in bliss, the sound of running water, occasional peacock honks, and a steady stream of smiling dancing people.
Before I left for India, I mentioned to my partner Upasana that I was interested in what would happen if astrology met dance. She did some research, as is her want, and mentioned that there was a dance therapist called Dhyana who could be there when I was. I didn’t give it a lot of thought.
One day, standing at the Multiversity Info desk, I heard the name Dhyana, and wondered if this was the Dhyana Upasana had mentioned. It turned out that it was. I introduced myself – and then heard myself floating the idea of doing an astrology dance event.
Dhyana is a Dance Alchemy (created by Maneesha McClure) practitioner from Colombia now living in Berlin. She has founded the Conscious Dance Festival®, Whirling in Berlin and OSHO Colombia. In short, Dhyana picked up on my idea, was all over how to set up the plaza, who to get on board and where I could find a wizard’s cape.
On one balmy Indian night, before a backdrop of large shifting images of the planets, a playlist curated to match the energies of each of the planets, and a spectacular array of lasers, we spent two fabulous hours with an ever-increasing crowd, moving from planet to planet from the Sun to Pluto – Dancing the Planets.
I spent time introducing each planetary character, the music kicked in – and we danced our way into the energy of each planet as we found it within ourselves. Using our bodies to find the softness of the Moon, the expansiveness of Jupiter, the groundedness of Saturn and the deep dark golden energy of Pluto was a far more instructive guide to astrology than anything intellectual could ever offer. It was a (two-hour) journey through a shifting landscape of planetary energies – each of which we hold within and each of which we can access intimately and expressively through dance. It worked like a charm.
We also added the notion of the ‘pole star’, the silent unmoving witness to the mix, to make it feel like all these energies, some of which we know and some that we don’t, are spinning and dancing around an unmoving axis at the very core of our being. The Pole Star is ‘The Witness’ and the planets are a dervish dance!
There was enough exhilaration in the air afterwards for us to know that there needs to be more of this. Finally, after nearly a year, there will be. Dhyana lives in Berlin. I live in Melbourne. We aren’t going to be able to introduce it to the dance floors of Europe just yet – so, we are going online.
The upcoming solstice in December (21st) is our launching date. We will be dancing our way through the solstice planets. (The format will be similar to the one we created in Pune.) We will move from planet to planet from the Sun through to Pluto, expressing each through music and dance – moving through neutral gear until the next planet is invoked and introduced. Once we have moved through the solar system and allowed the energy of each planet to transform us, we will end by relaxing into the silent witnessing stillness of the pole star.
We are looking forward to this fun, light yet deep dance journey.
