Jivan Ekin’s painting exhibition in our online art gallery
I have a love for pure, raw nature. And that’s what I paint or draw.
There are no man-made objects in my paintings; no streets, no houses, no clothes.
And I have a passion for colours. They talk to me, calling me onto the painting ground.
Then painting is happening like a garden, organically. It’s a no-mind thing. Applying colour is like watering. Adding shapes and forms is like planting and trimming.
Not easy to find an end, to know when to stop, on the canvas. Also that is very instinctive – and I overdo it often.
I have learned techniques, but I’m careful to not let the technique control the process too much. That would kill the aliveness of a piece.
This was Meera’s strong message to me. She once said, “Ekiiiiiiiin, you are born to be a painter. I love your love for beauty. I love your love for truth.”
Thank you, Meera.
