Poona Revival Festival III

When Neerav, one of the long-term residents of the commune, organised his 60th birthday in autumn of 2024, calling the event ‘Poona Revival Festival’, he certainly did not envisage that it would happen again – not just once, last year, but a second time this year. The response from participants was so strong, in fact, that Parimal decided to give it another round.

Neerav’s idea was, “I thought it would be fun to bring back the alive energy of the old Poona times of the 80s and 90s… And to enhance the atmosphere we will all be wearing red (from orange to maroon and purple)… The festival is not only for those who have been to Poona; newcomers who want to feel the energy of those times are most welcome.”

A special mention goes to the resident group of musicians, among them Andres and Navino, who, apart from the standard Osho Active Meditations like Dynamic, Kundalini and Nadabrahma, will set up their instruments and microphones for other meditations – Nataraj and Evening Meeting – as well as for sound healing sessions (with singing bowls and gongs), jam sessions, singing events, and ecstatic dance sessions. As music has always been a big part of our lives as sannyasins, in Poona and elsewhere, giving a natural outlet to Osho’s message of joyous celebration, it will be very present in this Festival once more.

There will also be “sharing sessions in groups or among friends, to exchange stories about our experiences in Poona back then, reminisce through short video clips from the past, and reflect on what Poona and our journey with Osho mean to us today,” as the organisers, Navino, Raji, Kushad and Andres, write.

Shantidevi, who reported on last year’s Festival, wrote: “All four days felt like an ongoing ‘Who Is In?’ group – a rare opportunity to connect with fellow sannyasins who, like me, have gone through the same experiences with Osho, sannyas and the commune over the past 45 years. Meeting these friends again – some I hadn’t seen since Poona One – was something truly special.”
