Fiery Lenticular Clouds

From the Web

More and more news reports about unusual cloud structures and weather patterns emerge.

Lenticular clouds (Altocumulus lenticularis) are stationary lens-shaped clouds that form in the troposphere, normally in perpendicular alignment to the wind direction. Because of their shape, they have been offered as an explanation for some Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) sightings and in olden days people were mystified by such occurrences and saw the Hand of God in it.

These photos were taken during sunset on November 21, 2015, close to the active volcano Etna. Two weeks before, an army of lenticular clouds engulfed the sky of Cape Town in South Africa.
