Bharat (aka Anahatta) was born Melvin Rochlin in the States and studied to become a pharmacist. Soon, with his guitar he travelled to Europe busking in the streets of its capitals.

He came to Pune in the mid-’70s, took sannyas and received the name Anahatta. He became a worker in the ashram and many will remember him as the tofu-maker for Deeksha’s kitchen and canteen. In 1990 he became a disciple of Papaji in Lucknow and received a new name, Bharat.

He lived on Koh Samui in Thailand and later in Tiruvannamalai, India, where he gave astrology, palmistry and psychic reading sessions, an art he had practiced for over 30 years.

He is also the author of novels and non-fiction books, like ‘Splendor of the Dawn’, ‘Palmistry’, ‘Split Seconds’, to name a few. He also published cards, ‘Now Cards: Guidance for Transformation’ and a comprehensive video tutorial, ‘Palmistry Tutorial Unplugged‘ on YouTube. Some of his friends also remember an interview where he talks about his life; it can be found on his website

Bharat’s cremation was held in traditional Indian fashion on 23 March 2018 in Tiruvannamalai.

So, my old buddy has passed on. A little sad to see him look so thin and somewhat wasted.
We’ve still got the large amethyst you gave us and some good memories too; Poona 1, Schneckenhof and Tofu in Germany and your visits to Köln, as you once said, “Germany – a scary move for a Jew…” …always one ready to take a walk on the wild side.
Thanks for looking after my bike,

Ahhh Anahatta, you were such a sensitive presence all thru Poona 1, the Ranch, Pune 2… a bunch of fun moments we shared. I always respected your passion for the inner, sincerity, and sense of humor. Feeling grateful for our moments together, and trusting you will transition with ease. Love, respect, and gratitude from an old friend on the path,

What a surprise to hear of your passing! I have such beautiful memories of you. I am so happy for you that you chose Tiruvannamalai as a final destination and take off. I first met you in Poona 1 when you were one of the ‘Cowboys’, always on the wild side. We shared a lot of beautiful moments, much laughter and had great conversations in my bamboo hut. You had great stories to tell, one of my favorite ones is when you met the two Siddhis in Kerala that took you on a cosmic journey. I also saw you on Maui when you gave Satsang and in the Bay Area, it was always nice to see you, what a beautiful soul you are!
Fly high my friend and have a blast!
Much Love,
Petra (aka Atulya)

Dear Bharat!
We had a very short but sweet time in Lucknow together and I want to thank you for this meeting! I loved your strong commitment with the divine!
Big hug and a light jouney….
Ma Deva Jitendra
