These silhouette-like black and white contrast images emerged while I was attempting to just capture the lines at the edge of figures.

In Japan there is a traditional black and white painting technique – notan – developed by ascetic Zen monks. It is supposed to reflect the simple way of life: only black ink on white paper.

Notan is the balancing of opposites – like we have for example in the Ying and Yang symbol.

I have almost become addicted to this way of creating figures…
