Keerti and a group of meditators from Osho Nisarga visit the Gyuto Monastery.
One of the participants of the Neo Vipassana retreat I was facilitating at the Osho Nisarga Meditation Centre in Dharamshala had the idea of visiting a Buddhist monastery and to meditate there.
A few years ago, also during a Vipassana retreat, I had taken the whole group to meet HH Lama Karmapa. This time, however, the Karmapa being in the USA, we met with H.E. Khangser Rinpoche.
He was very kind and gave us a talk on the Vajrayan Tantra and answered one of my questions about the Jitamo meditation (see video on youtu.be). Later we sat in the temple and chanted the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum and did the gachchhamis.
The Rinpoche knew about Osho; he had read Osho’s Diamond Sutra and more of his books. He was very open towards us and welcoming, and the whole group had chai and a chat with him.
Two days later, on the last day of the retreat, on 12 August, I went back and brought him two of our maroon robes and a mala with Osho’s locket, which he had asked for. We sat together and I answered all his questions. He made notes of my answers and told me to come and visit him more often. And, of course, there was chai again.
Before leaving I told him I would send him more of Osho’s books. Once again it was raining very heavily! Monsoon time!
And I feel blessed that most of the participants in the Osho Neo Vipassana retreat were new, and sincere, seekers. 12 out of the 28 took then sannyas initiation (two had come all the way from Israel and one from Mauritius).
