The wonderfully designed book, subtitled Songs of Love, Wonder & Devotion, contains 25 poems, photos and stories
Recently, Miten showed his new poetry book to an audience of friends who had joined him for a zoom meeting. He shared readings and stories from In The Garden Of The Mystic. Here is the recording of that event:
Foreword by Miten
I was born into a happy family. I had no reason to rebel or to fight against the system. That came later.
My early days were filled with wonder.
As I got older the wonder began to diminish — to dissolve — into a blurry haze of questions and problems that I couldn’t even articulate, let alone consider or contemplate.
Something was just gnawing away at me, and I had no answer for it.
On the surface, if you didn’t look too closely, my life was pretty good. I’d created a ‘living’ for myself in London’s rock music industry — I’d made records, appeared on big tours, played to a lot of people . . . rubbed shoulders with some of my musical heroes . . . was married to a loving wife and I was father to a young son . . . I had friends to guide me when I was down, to challenge me, to comfort me . . . and yet . . . and yet. . . .
I think there comes a time in everyone’s life when, for a moment in time, one stands at the crossroads.
I remember that biblical parable of the fishermen who laid down their nets and followed Jesus.
Sometimes, you just don’t think twice. Those fishermen didn’t appear to think about their responsibilities . . . I often wondered how the wives of those fishermen felt, how their kids felt when their father and partner just disappeared — up and left. Well, now I knew.
Just like those fishermen I walked out on the whole shebang.
Didn’t even look back.

Presentation
I can still remember the first time our eyes met
It was you and me and the mystery
It’s a time I will never forget”
From the opening lines of the first poem in this new book, Miten invites us to share his songs of Love, Wonder, and Devotion by joining him In the Garden of the Mystic. In a world where we all need to step away from conflict and stress, his invitation arrives just in time, in a beautifully crafted package filled with his heartfelt songs/poems.
Angels all around me
I had angels at my door
There were angels in the kitchen
Meditating on the floor”
These poems give us a glimpse into a life overflowing with Love, Wonder, and Devotion. These three themes are presented in carefully crafted lyrical poetry that delights the ear and feeds our weary thoughts with life-giving inspiration and bountiful joy. Each section leads us deeper into Miten’s garden, beginning with his Songs of Love for his beloved Deva, to the Songs of Wonder for a life well-lived, and a love for all earthly brothers and sisters, to his Songs of Devotion, honoring our spiritual guides and mystic teachers.
I never knew I was blessed but now I do
I never knew what I was missing
Till I was loved by you”
