Tathagat

Tathagat (aka Swami T, John Eric Scholz) left his body at age 78 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Many will remember him from Pune One where he was as one of the first samurai guards for Osho.

His base was Ashland, Oregon, where he started a Ranch which then expanded with many houses. Many sannyasins, in particular while travelling to and from Osho’s Oregon commune, remained at his place for a while.

Avibha writes, “T. was an innovative visionary and wonderful scallywag. One day he went out to get an acetylene tank to make a bell and came back instead with the claim for a gold mine! He was good at creating communities, i.e. he had a project in Costa Rica and had a monastery built in Oregon.”

Tathagat is the author of The Concept of Enlightenment under the pen name Swami John.

From his bio on Pure Living Expo

John was the founder and CEO of Cellular Detox Centers and the Founder and Chairman of Frequency Healing Arts LLC. He designed the company’s NAD program to help people find an effective way to quickly heal and clean on a cellular level for many chronic conditions. John dedicated his time to research, marketing, writing, and development in advancing ever more creative ways to improve the program and educate people to maintain long-term heath and wellness.

In addition, John spent many years living amongst some of the most respected spiritual teachers and masters of our time. This included three years with the Zen Master Roshi Philip Kapleau at the Rochester New York Zen Center, three years with Kyosan Joshu Roshi at the New Mexico Zen Center, three years in silent retreat in BC Canada, 3 years with the Tibetan Teacher Chogyam Trumpa Rinpoche in Boulder Colorado, and seven years in Pune, India with Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, now known as Osho.

John lived [as per 2015] in Sedona, Arizona and focused his energy on advanced neurocellular research and assisting his clinic’s MD Doctors and staff, in healing and restoring the patients’ bodies and minds.

More Tributes

I remember Swami T from Poona One. A strong, sexy, good-looking Swami. Powerful in his energy and presence. Very much looked at home in his Samurai suit. Wishing you a beautiful journey forward T. Thank you for all the beautiful work you did here.

Fly high and mighty!

Much love,

Premabodhi ❤️❤️❤️

I worked for Rick from 1968 through 73. This was his bus back then and he had big plans even then. He had grown up with my brother-in-law and other friends in Rochester, Michigan, and they all stuck together like glue, but Rick was different. He was searching for something, but I’m not sure what. I did later read his book, “Concepts of Enlightenment” and found it to be right on with his personality, a little bit con artist and a little bit genius.

Just before he left, he told me he had purchased a TeePee in Oregon and was going out to get it and search the world for answers. I never heard from him again, but heard about him through friends. He wasn’t someone you forget about.
