A song by Divakar
Lyrics
Trusting in myself
I am shown the way
So sweet the music
Night after day
There’s another world
Where we really are
My very first song is White Swans, which I wrote in a creative writing class with Madhuri. The second is Love All Around, and the third is this one: Another World.
At the time, in the early 90’s, I was playing guitar and singing in various events in the Pune Commune; in the Osho Singing Celebration, the Choir and also in Heart Dance which was run by Shantidharma. He liked it when the songs had only a few words so that it was easy for people to learn them quickly.
So, whenever I wrote a song, I kept that in mind. The starting words for this song were originally ‘Trusting in my heart’, but for some reason Shanti wanted me to change them into ‘Trusting in myself’.
I am very grateful to him; he gave me a lot of confidence and supported me whenever I came up with a new song.
To say that I was ‘writing songs’ is not really the correct expression. Mostly I was just fooling around on my guitar, and then sometimes singing happened and a song came out. Lyrics don’t come easily to me, but once, I remember, I woke up in the middle of the night, opened a book by Osho and there were the words for a song: Even the sky is not the limit. So open your wings without any fear.
