Every time I’ve been to Chicago I’ve left with the same feeling — that Chicago is a city built at full scale, but lived in at human scale.
The architecture reaches for the sky, and the people underneath it are still just eating hot dogs, walking dogs, sitting by fountains, unhurried.
That balance — the monumental and the intimate, holding hands — is, I think, the real beauty of the place.
It’s a city that never lets you forget it’s magnificent, and never lets you forget it’s also, somehow, warm.
