Reiki Master-Teacher Tanmaya Honervogt shares with us illustrated instructions for a morning treat!

This self treatment is most effective in the morning just after waking up. If you feel unsettled or moody, treating yourself with Reiki, will immediately help change your frame of mind, improving your outlook on the day. The following treatment will wake you up gently and prepare you. Stay in each position for about five minutes.

Instructions

1. Lay your hands on the back of your head, fingers together and pointing upwards. Hold your head like a ball with both hands. This position calms strong emotions, such as fear and shock and clarifies thinking. Use it for tension, headaches, eye disorders, colds, hayfever and digestive disorders.

2. Place either hand on the centre of the top of the head, and lay the other directly on the front of the throat, over the thyroid gland. This position treats the thyroid, pineal and pituitary gland, and the hypothalamus, which governs the production of hormones in the body. Use it for balancing the metabolism and weight problems

3. Place your hands on either side of the upper chest, fingers touching just below the collar bone. This position strengthens the immune system and the lymphatic system. It is good for treating the thymus gland, heart and lungs. Use it for bronchitis, deafness, general weakness and depression.

4. Place your hands over the lower ribcage, fingers touching in the middle. This position promotes relaxation, eases fears, boots your energy and regulates sugar and fat metabolism and digestion.

You come now to an end of your self-treatment. You feel relaxed, balanced and refreshed. Take a couple of moments to enjoy this state. Wiggle your fingers and toes and stretch your body gently. Slowly return to normal consciousness.
