My intention as a painter, painting these paintings, is to create a mirror for the viewers to see into themselves.

It’s all very good having meditation, but unless I’m sharing it, unless it’s being transmitted, what’s the point?

A story: I came into the room one day – I was on my way through to the bathroom – and I saw a painting just stacked there. I saw it out of the corner of my eye and thought, “That’s wonderful.” I didn’t know it was mine. That’s the key. I don’t feel they’re mine now, they’ve gone from me. Like kids in a way, they’ve got their own lives to lead. Good bye. I love you!

I am in a new psychology which is: death is near. It’s part of life and I’ve made the adjustments of acceptance, welcoming. It’s part of the dance. I don’t know how the dance will evolve with these new [paintings].
