Radha will celebrate the occasion with a special Holiday Retreat on Corfu. In this article, she recalls the events and insights that preceded the opening of her tantra school.
Radha, what are the origins of the Tantralife method?
When Osho left his body, I realized that a new phase of my life had begun. I decided to participate in a meditative therapy process created by Osho, called the Mystic Rose, convinced that it would help me clarify what I should do next. The Mystic Rose is an intense method lasting 21 days. First week, laughing for 3 hours a day; second week crying; and in the third week, sitting in silence. This last phase is called ‘The watcher on the hill’. In those 21 days I went through such a deep cleansing of thoughts and emotions that it became easier for me to see clearly what belonged to me and what not. The process had the effect I had hoped for.
During the watcher phase, in fact, I had a clear vision of how I had lived up to then and what had happened to me. I received indications on what direction my life could take from then on. Three things in particular became clear to me:
1 – In this interesting and beautiful life I had spent near Osho – and even before, during my hippie life, my family life, my Neapolitan life – what did I really like? I’ve always been extremely curious about people’s lives. I like people. I want to understand them and want to know them. So much so that even when I did other work, like baking pastries in the commune, or cleaning, friends came to me to share their problems with me, and sometimes get advice This was the first thing I understood: I like people!
2 – What is my passion besides people? Meditation…
3 – I then also asked myself: how did I come to meditation and to Osho? What brought me to him besides madness, and coincidence? It was my interest in – sexuality.
These were the points that became clear to me, but it was not clear yet how I could put them together, how I could take them with me into the world and transform them into work.
I had already started giving Tarot readings, to my great surprise and that of my friends. Although I did not have a deep knowledge of the method, I noticed that through intuition I was able to bring out and say things to people that were true and useful.
But what is intuition? It is ‘not being there’, being able to put aside one’s personality, focus on the empty space within and let come what wants to emerge. Intuition also means to be trusting that what emerges is true. So, thanks to the Tarot cards, I had the opportunity to share the aspect of intuition and of the energy that I had experienced during the Energy Darshans with Osho. I was always overcome with experiences of cosmic orgasm; without physical contact I felt as if I was making love with Osho and with everyone present. It was so not just for me but also for many others who participated. This is how meditation, for me, became linked to sexuality.
During these magical moments with Osho I also became connected with my light. So I began to feel that perhaps Tarot and this light, with which I had the good fortune to be able to connect, could be a way to convey the energy I had felt in those Darshans.
I wondered where I could start to ‘practise’ this. At this point, at the tender age of about forty, I had no roots anywhere. Unable to decide, I said to myself, “I will travel around the world to see which countries will call me.” I started my “tour” in Japan, where I gave Tarot readings and later was asked to conduct longer events.
At the beginning of my career as a Tantra teacher, I was often invited to lead events similar to Darshans where, in addition to the energy experience, I answered people’s questions. This too was a great mystery to me because when Osho was in his body it was difficult for me to speak to him: I never managed to ask him a question except in writing. When I saw him in person I was too excited and overwhelmed by energy; I was crying, laughing, trembling, ‘orgasming’… but I could not speak. So talking, leading groups was a new thing for me. What guided me was trusting that life, the experience itself, would teach me how to do it.
After studying the Tantric master Tilopa in depth and reviewing everything that I had already heard about, lived and known, I began to develop my own technique, my way of sharing this incredible experience of life. I created a method that you may call ‘non-method’, given that it is constantly evolving, just like life, like energy that is constantly transforming. It is Tantra-life!
Tantralife comes from the understanding that I can play with these elements and so share the only thing that I really know: meditation.
Because of her peculiar intuitive ability and her passionate curiosity towards life and people, as well as for the success of her method all over the world, Radha has often been interviewed in television broadcasts to answer as a Tantra expert to questions, problems and curiosities related to sexuality, e.g. she was recently invited by Camila Raznovich in her television programme Loveline broadcast on Italian MTV. Radha also has her own YouTube channel.
Radha and her team will celebrate the anniversary of Tantralife with a Holiday Retreat in Corfu, 29 June – 6 July.
