Ma Yoga Bhakti, one of Osho’s sisters, was born in Gadarwara, Narsinghpur District, MP, and was called in childhood, Resham. Her ‘proper’ name was Rasha or Rasa Kumari Jain and after her marriage she became Rasa Fouzdar. On 30 June 1971 Osho initiated her into sannyas and gave her a new name, Ma Yoga Bhakti, but everybody called her: Rasa Didi!

With her husband, Shree Jinwar Das Fouzdar (1928-1977), she had three sons and three daughters: Rakesh, Rakanishi, Rohit, Alka, Jyoti and Kapil.

After sannyas she regularly practised meditation at home and attended all meditation camps conducted by Osho at Mount Abu and other locations. Osho asked her to arrange local meditation camps twice a year in her home town, Hoshangabad, to spread his message. She continued arranging regular camps for 30 years till 2000. She also helped with the publication of Osho’s books, for example, the book on Ishavasyopanishad.

In 1983 she travelled alone to Rajneeshpuram, Oregon, to attend a July Festival. The family were worried because she did not speak English and because it was her first flight.

When in 2017 she was hospitalized in very ill condition, she declared that she has attained the state of liberation, but that her body may continue to live a little longer.

24 hours before leaving her body she said that she will leave it the next day. She said, “Inform everybody and make arrangements so that relatives and friends who will come to see me, are able to stay.” Family members thought she was joking. They had to tell her that at present nobody was allowed to travel as the country was in lockdown because of the virus. They asked her to wait for few more weeks if she wished to see relatives and friends. She said, “It is not possible now; the right time has come to leave this world.”
