This month’s solar transits discussed by Marga.
In Human Design, as in astrology, the Sun moves from sign to sign over the course of the year, but the 360 degrees of the Zodiac are not just divided into the 12 signs, but into 64 further sections, called Gates, which are inspired by the 64 hexagrams of the Chinese I-Ching, also known as the Book of Changes. In this column we present, month by month, the Gates that are activated by the passage of the Sun, and any Channel that might come into being in combination with the movement of other planets. Together they influence everything that happens to us, as we are individuals immersed in the collective cosmic energy…
Zodiac Signs: from Aries to Taurus
1-4 April – Gate 21 ~ Control
This very masculine Gate, also known as the ‘Hunter’, will take us right into the center of the ego and willpower, grappling with the world of matter and material things. In the spiritual world there is sometimes a certain antagonism towards issues connected to money and power, as we forget that mastering the material level requires finesse, grace and other highly evolved qualities. It is therefore not a matter of denying or repressing the ego (which always comes back disguised as false humility and modesty, or even polite manipulation…), but rather of bringing the ego to maturity and turning it towards higher purposes.
Gate 21 is truly the entry point of this journey that begins with controlling reality for personal gains and ends with discovering the authority, the courage and the valour that tells a true man and a true woman from the masses.
5-10 April – Gate 51 ~ Arousing (Thunder)
And here we come, to the quintessence of the Aries that in this Gate, sometimes called ‘the Gate of Shock’, expresses fire at its purest and almost literal form. It is probably for this reason that in the I Ching this Gate is called the Thunder and symbolises, among other things, the Laws of Nature and Change. In the journey of the ego, Gate 51 hints at the moment when power over the material can transcend itself and become magical and shamanic, and capable of alchemical and sometimes devious transformations, without ever losing its candour.
During these days, expecting the unexpected is the new norm, and it can come as a surprise and sometimes as a shock. In any case, it can be a kind of warning or wake-up call for something we are wrongly ignoring. These are also auspicious days for initiations of any kind, and particularly for those connected with the world of nature and the elements Fire and Air.
11-16 April – Gate 42 ~ Increase
And here we are at the peak of Spring, the moment when the dewy freshness of awakening is followed by the first hot sun rays releasing the fragrances and their ecstasy but also burning the most delicate petals, especially in warmer climates.
These are days that conceal a smile hidden behind each leaf, as to celebrate life and its cycles. And, in unison with nature, in our lives too we can benefit from the favourable effects of ‘increase’ in all dimension. We are reminded that great things are possible at this time, and that it is good to take advantage of them!
An important key is to maintain a balance between giving and receiving, so as to honour all the elements and actors involved, including ourselves. Another valuable key to be remembered is that growth does not only happens in prosperity but also in hardships and difficulties, where the plant of true wisdom only takes root.
17-21 April – Gate 3 ~ Beginnings
The atmosphere of the previous Gate has prepared the ground for what can truly take shape in these days reflecting innovation and mutation. It is time to break up with the past and its patterns, even if only with small things, so that we do not create a future that is merely a déjà-vu.
If you haven’t guessed yet, this is a revolutionary Gate and the change it brings carries also an integration and a reconciliation. It doesn’t like to destroy in order to create; it rather innovates through a creative pull. However, Pluto’s presence in Gate 60, Limitation, activating the Channel of Mutation, makes everything extremely intense and unpredictable, like… a nuclear power plant. Great is the energy it is capable of dispensing, but equally great is the risk implied in its nature.
22-27 April – Gate 27 ~ Nourishing
To nourish doesn’t only mean to feed but it carries many meanings and a multitude of forms, all related to the diversity of human needs. These days can give us access to an inexhaustible source that, from the depths of our very being, will nourish us both at a substantial and at a subtle level. The risk is not being able to channel the energy and using it for others even before we have really received it. Or hoarding it without sharing it. In both cases, the flow is interrupted and we create an imbalance!
A valuable key: contemplating nourishment in its most rarefied forms, like that of a plant in the Sun, or in its most extreme forms, like being devoured by a tiger, can expand our vision of our journey into the mineral, vegetal, animal, human, divine and cosmic realms. As Joni Mitchell sings, ‘We are stardust, we are golden, we are million years old carbon…’ (Woodstock, Joni Mitchell: youtu.be)
Note: On 28 April, the Sun enters Gate 24, which we covered in the May 2022 issue .
From the next issue on, we will focus on transits other than Sun / Earth, as we have covered them extensively over the course of this past year (May 2022 – April 2023).
